Online Programs: RN to BSN
A number of colleges and universities offer education programs which make it possible for registered nurses (RN) to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree. Some courses are offered online for the RN to BSN program.
Many registered nurses have an Associate Degree (ADN). While the ADN degree offers many benefits, nurses with Bachelor’s degrees have a wider range of employment options, including administration and specialized nursing careers.
An RN with a BSN degree will not only find it easier to obtain employment but receive a higher level of pay as well. In 2008, Americans with Bachelor’s degrees earned an average 2/week more than those with Associate Degrees, and fewer were unemployed.
There are additional advantages to online RN to BSN programs. They make it less difficult for registered nurses to continue working while they earn BSNs. Online programs also help to save money. Students spend much less on transportation, food, and writing and printing supplies.
Additionally, taking courses online frees up time which would be spent traveling to and from college. Online educational systems are especially desirable for students who do not live near any colleges or universities with nursing programs.
Missing long classes due to weather, sickness, or appointments are not worries of students in online RN to BSN programs. Being environmentally friendly is another great reason to take courses online. They use much less paper and save on gas as there are no daily commutes to campus.
For all of these reasons, online RN to BSN degree programs present a more convenient and affordable way for registered nurses to expand their career options and potential income.
Learn about the many advantages registered nurses can gain from earning a BSN degree, especially through online BSN programs.
