It has paved the way for people from all over the globe to purchase certain products which are unavailable or hard to find in their own locales. Nowadays, the popularity of online auctions means that most people have given them a try.
How to Start Selling
Using an online auction like eBay to sell merchandise is really quite simple. Simply find a site that appeals to you and register for an account. Although most of these sites are free, you’ll find that some of them charge a fee. Be aware, however, that those sites which charge a fee often have advantages that justify the cost.
Next, you have to decide which items you would like to sell. For instance, begin by selling those bits and pieces around the house that are collecting dust and taking up space. Once you have some experience, you might want to start shopping at garage sales, discount stores and factory outlets for merchandise that you can use for eBay online selling.
Don’t start selling until you have read over the terms and conditions of the online auction site and are knowledgeable about your responsibilities and liabilities. Keep your transactions with your customers as open and honest as possible in order to avoid any problems after the sale.
Buying Basics
Making a purchase from an online auction is considerably easier than selling your items. Like the selling part, you need to register at a particular site before you start bidding on any items that you want to purchase. Check the reviews and feedback of the seller before you place a bid. This is valuable information as you make a decision on whether the vendor is trustworthy and can deliver as promised.
Once you’re reasonably sure the seller is on the up and up, you can place a bid and hope for the best. To avoid overspending, set a maximum bid; this way your purchase won’t be overpriced in terms of your time, effort and cash.
Online auctions provide you with better access to the things that you want to buy. Suddenly, shopping is more convenient and less expensive; just remember to shop wisely.

Dog Pictures Fetch Cash on eBay
It might really astonish you, but one of the simplest things to sell on eBay is bits of paper. But only if you know the right sort of paper to list.
Old pictures, gotten very cheaply or even free, are one type of paper item that can earn you cash in the world’s biggest online auction. And there is one picture topic that makes for an almost-guaranteed sale: dogs.
Believe me when I say this. Dogs really can put money in the bank!
You can make a nice little business selling pictures of dogs to dog lovers, and the field is still wide open to newcomers. So, there’s room for more folks to get in and make money.
The most attractive part of this moneymaking idea is that you may be able to obtain your stock (old pictures of dogs) virtually cost-free.The next step entails reselling the pictures on the Web, on ebay most likely.
It is not unheard of for some people to make a living at this. Dogs are the perfect subject, but you can specialize in others as well–sailing ships and trains, for instance.
Where can you find old dog pictures? Answer: Pictures — old pictures — published in books and magazines of yesteryear.
Amazing truth: You can sell a single image from an old book for many times what the book itself might cost. Your job, then, is to find the folks who are looking for a specific photographic or art subject.
Time after time, the dog has proven to be one of the best-selling subjects. Now, some buyers are not particular when it comes to dogs — they like all kinds of pictures of the animals. On the other hand, some prefer to concentrate on a particular breed. It wouldn’t be unusual to find that a fan of Dalmations might own hundreds of paintings and prints of the spotted dog.
With some diligent searching, and a bit of luck, you can find a large number of books about dogs from the late 19th century and the 20th century, that contain wonderful color plates illustrating the different breeds. Some of them could contain as many as 40 or 50 such plates.
When you find this type of book, you can carefully remove the pages containing the illustrations, and mat them them individually. Believe it or not, you may well find that you are able to sell them for fifty or a hundred bucks–apiece!–on eBay, the world’s largest auction site.
Big tip: Hunting breeds are among the most highly prized dog pictures. But to be honest, prints and photographs of almost any kind of dog can be sold profitably on eBay or similar web sites.
Besides the aforementioned dogs, ships and trains, keep an eye out for books with prints of old timey cars, cities and towns, country scenes, and horses. You will find there are many other good sellers as well.
To be a success in this, you must take time to learn where to find old books with the images that will sell. You must also learn how to remove the images so as to avoid damage. Also, you should spend time learning to present them attractively. The authoritative source on all of this is How To Make Money By Tearing Up Old Books And Selling Them On eBay.
The good news? If you’re searching for an interesting way to make money over the Web, the dog could truly be your best friend. (And here’s an objective look at the business of selling paper online.)
Save Big With Used Cars
We all have heard the old story about how driving a new car off the lot will cause the car to loose 2/3rds of its value instantly. Pretty much all people know this, but they still get new cars. If people understood that depreciation will actually cost you more over the life of the car than the gas will, people might behave differently.
Let me tell you a story. I drive a 1990 Honda Accord with over 200,000 miles on it. It cost me $1700 six years ago when I bought it, and I've been driving it ever since. It fuel efficient, is big enough for most of my needs, and as been generally reliable all things considered.
As you might expect, some repairs have been necessary. I've installed a new alternator, replaced brake pads, and swapped out old leaky coolant hoses. On the whole, though, I've probably put only $800 into the car over the years (not including gas, of course).
My insurance is cheap. Since the car is so old, I don’t need comprehensive and collision insurance, which save me a lot on my monthly premiums. On the whole, this car is amazingly cheap. Is it fancy? Heck no, but it does it job while letting me spend my money on more important things.
Let’s think about what a new car would cost to get us the same point A to point B functionality. Say you spend $20,000 or so on a new Accord. Right off the bat, you're out more than 10 times the price of my old Honda. Add more to that if you didn’t pay in cash, and took out a loan.
You will have to have insurance. Since you just bought a shiny new car, you’ll need both comprehensive and collision insurance, which can be high, especially for younger drivers in newer cars.
This car will still need money for maintenance. All this time, the car will be loosing significant amounts of its value. Do you think this is a good way of spending your money?
Buying used will allow you to save a lot of money on the expense of owning a car. Imagine how much more free your monthly budget would be in the absence of expensive car payments and high insurance premiums. Buying a cheap used car buys you financial freedom.
