The beauty of finding the components to make your own club is the fact that you can actually mix and match the components to match your game.

Some of the tools needed are:

Grip tape – two sided tape is needed

Grip tape solvent – very cheap and you can recycle the excess

Epoxy – you will needs an epoxy with a drying time of 2-3 hours

Pipe cutter for cutting steel shafts, a plumbing cutter will work fine

For graphite shaft use a hack saw

Grip cutting knife – one with a hooked blade works nicely

Sandpaper for roughing up shaft tips to epoxy them

Shaft clamp – a thick piece of rubber in a vise works well

Making a golf club consists of measuring and cutting the shaft to length, abrading the tip to make sure the bond to the head is as good as possible. You then push the ferrule over the thin end of the shaft and glue the head to the shaft with an epoxy. Waiting for the epoxy to dry is the worst part of the job… You want to take your new golf club to the course and try it out. Once the epoxy has settled, you wrap the butt end of the shaft with grip tape (double-sided sticky tape), get it wet using one of a wide range of solvents, slide the grip over it and let dry. Once that is done, you can now clean your new golf club – polish the ferrule and end up with something better than you buy at the store.

A great gadget if you have your own pool as you can pratice those chip shots without the hassle of going down to the course. The balls are actually made of Velcro so they can stick to the floating island instead of bouncing into the swimming pool. Better than having your own pool is using the local public pool and making everyone go and get the golf balls for you!

1. A remote controlled golf ball- Warning not for competitive games
This is by far the best golf gadget as after you have hit the ball if it doesn’t quite make it to the hole you can control it in. Although cheating this is a great during a recreational round as you can have a great laugh cheating all your friends.

5. Number five is Shinecock Hills golf club
A stunning course that has hosted four US opens so far. A very challenging course indeed you will struggle to make your handicap on this one. This course was first designed in 1891 and was re-designed later in 1930, with little changing since then proving the course to be almost faultless.

4. St Andrews golf course (old)
This is more than likely the oldest golf course in the world with golf rumoured to have been played here way back in the 12th century. Although this course is the home of golf it apprently doesnt treat newcomers very well. This is a course that you have to get to know before you like playing here so many other golfers have said.

3. Cypress point club
Most people are very unlikely to ever get to play here as it only has 250 members but the last four holes of the course have been called the best four of all time. This had to come into the top five, I have never actually played this course but always wanted too.

2. Royal County Down golf course is at number two
This course is the best course in the UK hands down and was designed wback in 1889 with major works done to it in 1908. Some of my best golf was played on this course with my brilliant birdie on hole 6 which is partly why it is at the number two slot.

1.Pine Valley golf course
It had to be the number one slot purely because it is the most stunning course I have ever seen in my life. The course itself is brilliant with only one thing i suggest avoiding and that is the 10ft bunker containing no sand to get out with! If you get the ball into this bunker then it is certain you are not going to get it out.

So there it is, the top five golf courses I have picked from the world. No need to charge up those golf batteries when you have the caddies at these places to drag your clubs around for you.

To a lot of people when you mention golf it comes as somewhat a very boring and tedious game. If you mention that golf is good for exercise, you will probably end up hearing the question, what type of exercise can golf give me?

Well I will tell you a great story of how playing a game of golf actually helped me lose my weight. I was 19 years old. I am not at all a very lengthly person, but I weighed a massive 16 stones, I just could not stop sitting down and eating. It became apparent to me that I was over weight when I walked up a small flight of stairs and could barely catch my breath.

Something had to be done before I turned into something that was going to ruin my body for the rest of my life. I first started to try to go to the gym, but it was just too much I was in no physical state to be visiting the gym. Everything I tried to do I just could not breathe. So one of my dear friends suggested that I go to the local golf club and start playing golf, the first thing that came to my mind was how the heck will that help?

But I gritted my teeth and took the plunge, I actually very much enjoyed my first game and it was very rewarding. I got a splash of sunshine and a breath of fresh air. But what was happening to my body was what shocked me I was using all of my muscles without even know. I regularly played 3 times a week and in 5 months I had lost all of my weight. I would definitely recommend golf to anyone.

That is not particularly helpful.I have a nasty case of information overload, particularly as a quick look through the first page of websites suggests a lot of narrow websites rather then a the general overview retailer that i was hoping for

As another example I have tried “golf course in Arizona”.This time we get 3,400,000 web pages returned.

It occurred to me that there must be a solution to this; a way of cutting through the overwhelming amount of information supplied by the might of Google.

Months later it came to me.

My answer was to make a golf toolbar for myself.  Just in case you don’t know toolbars are the lines of icons that sit above the main window of your computer screen.

In the toolbar I put in my favorite golfing websites so that whenever I wanted golf information it was there at the top of my screen every time I was online.The result was I could visit my favorite course finder, retailer and news center as I wanted.It Made searching life easier.

I still use Google sometimes for golf searches but in general I know that the best websites are available right at the top of my screen everyday.

I decided that it would be great for others to use the toolbar and it’s here.Its free for everybody to use.The toolbar is designed to download in a matter of moments. It has no spyware or anything sinister.

At the moment it has a top golf store, training aid site, news section and a weather forecast, games, utilities and a holiday or vacation organiser.
