Children’s Christmas Pajamas – Christmas Tradition
One of the most fun things about Halloween for Baby are the costumes. But costumes for Baby these days can be so expensive! It seems like such a shame to spend all of that money on something your child will only wear once. Fortunately there are costumes you can make for your child. You can create a fun and adorable Halloween costume for your kid, even if you aren’t the “crafty” type.
Begin by “shopping” in your child’s closet. Every child has their own personal style, likes and dislikes. As you look through your child’s closet, a costume idea may come to you. Have a piece of paper and pen with you as you go through the closet to brainstorm your ideas. A girl or boy in dance classes could easily wear their dance costumes as a Halloween costume – to be a ballerina or another fun costume without other needed accessories. Other ideas may come to you as you look through your child’s closet.
Whatever you choose, consider making it a tradition each year to enjoy the same snack or meal while making your home festive for the holiday. One of the traditions at our house that has extended to the third generation is our Christmas morning menu always revolves around oyster soup and Christmas bread…before gifts are opened.
A clown costume is easy to make. Go to the dollar store and buy a bunch of balloons (5 balloons for each usually). Make a clown face on your child’s face with makeup from the drugstore available for Halloween. Dress them in bright clothing. This is a fun costume for boys or girls.
Another tradition the children (in their holiday pajamas) will enjoy, is making and decorating homemade cookies to leave out for Santa and his reindeer. Package the extras in pretty containers to deliver to friends and family on Christmas day. Children love to “camp out” so consider sleeping in sleeping bags in front of the Christmas tree one night. Munch on snacks, leave the lights on all night, and make a special memory!
Making costumes for Baby can be easy and fun once you realize the options available to you. Once you start to look you may discover there are several costume ideas in front of you. For best results, involve your child in the costume decision making as they will get excited and want to wear the chosen costume even more now that they have had a hand in creating it. I am 56 years of age and have been a grandma for just over two years now. My husband and I have two grandson’s ages 2 1/2 and 5 months. Those two boys are absolutely without a doubt the most life changing people to enter our lives to date. I could watch my husband or son play and interact with them for hours on end and never tire of it.
The older of the two is just learning to talk with us more easily, picking up words and adding them to conversations like running water. I can talk with him about the simplest of things forever his curiosity is endless. Our oldest grandson looks very much like his mother but the youngest one looks just like my son did when he was born. I am mesmerized when I hold him and talk to him; his every movement is so much like my sons.
I have wanted to become a grandmother since my son was about the age of sixteen. I was only able to have one child and he grew up much to fast. I personally had a very special bond with my grandma and always looked up to her and strived to be just like her. Becoming a grandparent has been well worth the weight and incomparable to any other moments in my life other than the birth of my own son. We secretly hope for a granddaughter but are totally complete with our boys.
Nevertheless, I am not beyond feeling some pain and guilt for having transplanted my grandparents. To keep me grounded, I focus on the gratitude I feel for their love, upbringing, and sacrifice. Undoubtedly, I was the most fortunate grandchild in the world.
If the parents are in a custody battle, it can be more difficult to be friendly. If this is the case, your best option is to support your child in getting custody. The more time your child has with the children, the more you will see your grandchildren. Depending on your circumstances you may be able to help financially. If you can’t, you can always offer emotional support–and that is very valuable.
Grandparents can really help their grandchildren during a custody situation. When children visit grandma and grandpa they can relax and feel secure. You can provide a stable, positive environment for the children to visit and you can develop positive, loving relationships with them. The elderly experience loss in many ways to which the young are oblivious. Loss of physical attributes, employment, roles, friends, diminishing senses, and the sorrowful loss of a loyal, trusted companion, their pet. Many elderly pet owners find it difficult to choose pet cremation as an option. The idea of incineration may conjure unpleasant reminders of the atrocities committed during World War II. In addition to that notion, friendly neighborhood crematoriums are not their usual address book entry.
Perception and availability are obstacles for a practical opportunity to honor an old friend and promote the healing process. Traditionally, pets are buried in the owner’s yard, if they have one, or a pet cemetery. Turning the family member over to the local veterinarian calls for an unceremonious disposal in a landfill.
Dust to dust, a natural event sometimes slowed by human intervention, is first described in the Bible. That conversion may occur almost instantly with cremation. Society’s fast-food mentality is not the reason pet cremation becomes a viable choice. There are two good reasons to utilize a crematorium, first, land conservation, and second, honoring the sacred.

- making sure that your personal records are in order, therefor making it easy for your family to locate;
- making your wishes known;
- controlling the cost of your funeral and protecting it from inflation;
- making all the arrangements when you are at peace and not leaving them to your family during their time of grief;
- protecting your insurance so that it is used for your survivors needs and not for funeral expenses;
- provides protection in case the need arises before it is expected.
2)If I give too much medication, they may become addicted.
Addiction is a chronic brain disease that can occur with some people who are exposed to opioids. That being said, there are very few patients who become addicted while being treated for pain. The addiction rate of patients being treated for pain is estimated at less than .1%. If you truly fear addiction, it is important to ask yourself, “if my loved one did not have pain, would they want to continue to take this pain medication?” Most people would answer “no.” People who become addicted to pain medications are taking pain medications for reasons other than pain. The bottom line is that the likelihood of becoming addicted is very low and fear of addiction should not be a barrier to comfort.
3)If I give this medication, it may cause my loved one to die sooner.
This is incorrect. There is research that demonstrates patients who take opioids for pain actually live longer when their pain is well controlled. This makes sense as when they are comfortable, they will be able to maintain their weight and get adequate rest. When medications are given properly, there is no risk that their death will be hastened. When people are actively dying, they need to continue to receive the pain medication. When they start to sleep all the time, it’s tempting to reduce the dosage because you want them to be awake and talking to you. But remember that at some point they will be too weak to respond. Cutting back on the medication will bring their pain back at a time when they are less able to tell you that they are in pain. They will then require consecutive doses of opioids to control the pain again.
Caring for someone who is dying is stressful. Having home health or hospice care available to turn to for support is essential. Managing pain well is an important gift that we give to our loved ones who are dying. When they are comfortable, we are comfortable. With pain controlled, the time remaining will be far richer and more memorable. There will be time and energy for memories to be shared and true connection to be achieved. You will be left with a sense of having done your best for them during a most difficult time
