Taking Away Your Anxiety
An intense panic attack is usually followed by the administration of anti-anxiety medication to prevent other similar episodes. However, tranquilizers represent just a temporary relief method that can only be used in perfect safety for a very short period of time, due to the high risk of side effects. Here are some of the unpleasant and sometimes paradoxical adverse reactions related with the administration of anti-anxiety medication in general. While the major benefit from their use consists of the relaxation of the nerves, too much soothing can make the patient feel sleepy even when you need alertness.
Slow reflexes, poor coordination and fatigue are the anti-anxiety medication side effects resulting from the drugs blocking some specific chemical secretion in the brain. Some people also complain about impaired thinking, confusion, dizziness and disorientation, not to mention the impossibility to drive or operate machines. The extensive use of anti-anxiety medication can also cause depression in very severe forms that push one on the verge of suicide. Drugs do eliminate the anxiety discomfort, but they also make it impossible for the sufferer to experience pain or pleasure thus affecting the quality of life in very many ways. There are also some unexplained paradoxes in some people’s reactions after the administration of anti-anxiety medication. For instance, the use of tranquilizers aims at inducing relaxation and calm, but an increase of the irritability and agitation level has sometimes been signaled out. Plus, rage, hostility and mania have been noticed in some cases. Although very rare and equally dangerous, aggressive behaviors and hallucinations are also possible as a result of anti-anxiety medication use. The majority of paradoxical reactions to anti-anxiety medications has been reported with children or the elderly, as well as with people that suffer from some developmental disabilities. Therefore, the choice of the treatment requires utmost care and it usually involves the use of a complementary therapy rather than the administration of drugs. Anti-anxiety medication only reduces or stops the symptoms without improving the health condition in any way. The problem or the trigger responsible for the panic attacks is still there, somehow camouflaged, and once the medical treatment is discontinued, anxiety will be back all over again. Therefore, the therapeutic efforts should be directed towards identifying and eliminating the cause and not merely treating the unpleasant symptoms of anxiety. Seattle HCG Diet & Weight Loss.
How to Lower Your Anxiety
There are many types of anti-anxiety medication since drugs are usually the first to use when suffering from an intense and unexpected panic attack. However, tranquilizers don’t offer a cure for the health problem and they also have the disadvantage of causing all sorts of side effects. Here are some of the paradoxical and troublesome adverse reactions triggered by anti-anxiety medication in general.
Some people also complain about dizziness, confusion, disorientation and impaired thinking, not to mention the impossibility to drive or operate machines. The extensive use of anti-anxiety medication can also cause depression in very severe forms that push one on the verge of suicide. The problem is that such drugs not only eliminate anxiety but also make it impossible for one to feel pleasure or even pain, which can often go hand in hand with depression. Some reactions to anti-anxiety medication are truly paradoxical. More than half of the peculiar reactions to anti-anxiety drugs are usually encountered with the elderly and children, as well as with patients with developmental disabilities. Therefore, the choice of the treatment requires utmost care and it usually involves the use of a complementary therapy rather than the administration of drugs. Anti-anxiety medication only eliminates or alleviates symptoms without improving the health condition in any way. The factor or the problem that generates the panic attacks remains lurking at the back of the mind, somehow camouflaged, and once you cease taking the medication, you’re likely to experience anxiety all over again. Therefore, the therapeutic efforts should be directed towards identifying and eliminating the cause and not merely treating the unpleasant symptoms of anxiety. Seattle HCG Diet & Weight Loss.
A Guide To The Benefits Of Meditation
Stress affects people in different ways. I become quite withdrawn when at these stages and my mind goes into overdrive stressing about many different things.
Other people suffer from panic attacks, become very shaky and nervous, feel sick in the stomach, become sad and can begin to think in a very negative way.
Most of the conditions I have described above are actually a mental and not so much of a physical problem. This is why I believe meditation to be an excellent form of stress relief or stress management.
I am very much aware of the many benefits of meditation and have done my far share of stressing. Stuttering ruined my early life and caused me to lose a lot of my self-confidence. I worked hard to stop stammering and was eventually rewarded with fluency at the age of 21.
Stress and worry also affected my work life within the composite door company where I held quite a senior position. At time I would worry far too much about the trivialities of work.
The main benefits of meditation:
It can lower your heart rate
It relaxes your breathing and can even make it slower
It can lower blood pressure
It can increase your self-esteem by making you think in a more positive way
Helps you to think in a more logical and clear way
Helps you to reduce stress
Some of the forms of meditation:
Walking meditation
Mandala meditation
Yoga meditation
Sitting meditation
Prayer meditation
Visualisation meditation
I personally prefer the sitting meditation. I now like to meditate around 3 or 4 times a day, where possible. Originally I had a lack of belief about what I was doing and about if it would work. I must admit that I really found it hard to fully focus at this point. With practice and realising that I needed this to work for me, I managed to get enough concentration and focus to see the full benefits.
A lot of the people in my circle of friends think that I am a bit mad, including my best friends Dave and Pete who work in the cost reduction experts sector. They can not believe that I actually just sit there and think. Meditation has had such a positive effect on my life and continues to do so, therefore my friends can mock as much as they like. I actually believe that some of them should try it themselves but they always laugh at the suggestion.
Fight or Fright Reaction and Stress.
Consider these three different scenarios.
Recession is making life difficult for a sales rep. His recent records show poor sales. He is about to meet a big and important new client who could be his saviour. The ouicome will decide whether he is still in employment.
A man is desperately and madly in love with this attractive and popular woman. To him there is no future without her but there are other men trying to attract her attention. The table is set for two, the ring is in his hand and the red roses lie near by. She is due any minute and he will propose to her and he does not know whether she will say yes or no.
Late at night a woman is walking home. The street is dimly lit. Suddenly she hears footsteps ahead of her. A group of people wearing hoodies is walking towards her. Behind her she now hear more footsteps. She turns around to see a group of youths walking towards her.
Although there is potential danger in only one scenario, a person becomes very focussed and alert. This is the fight and fright reaction.
The fight or fright reaction protect us from life threatening dangers. In this reaction, the brain triggers the release of the hormones adrenaline, noradrenaline and cortisone. The remarkable changes that occur are caused by these hormones.
The heart rate speeds up, the breathing become faster and deeper, the mouth becomes dry, the pupils dilate, skin becomes cold and clammy and hairs on the back of the neck stand up.
You may even want to vomit, open your bowels or urinate. This is the brain trying to make you lighter and move faster during ‘flight’.
The fight or fright reaction prepares the body for action. You are in a state of heightened awareness. All your senses are sharpened. Your hearing, sense of smell and your sight are all sharpened. Your body is now functioning at it optimum.
Your rapidly beating heart pumps extra blood to the brain and the muscles. By breathing faster and deeper, more oxygen is transported by the blood to the muscles and brain. In addition blood is shunted away temporarily from other important organs such as the kidneys, immune system and the gut to enable more blood to the muscles.
Although the fight and fright reaction is primeval and developed when early humans had to confront huge and dangerous reptiles and mammals, it is still present today. The only problem, however, is that the brain cannot differentiate between real and percieved dangers or threats. The reaction is the same.
In all three scenarios above, the fight or fright reaction is triggered.
Panic attacks are severe episodes of the fight or fright reaction and, to the individual during an attack the danger or threat is very real. Rationality suddenly disappear and there is no where to run to or no one to fight.
In stress, even though there is no threat to our lives, the fight or fright reaction is triggered and can be harmful to the body. If persistent, it can cause diseases.
Understanding how the fight or fright reaction is triggered in stress will help you make some sense about the symptoms of stress you experience with stress.
Some tips to control stress.
Count from one to ten.
This is what some mothers tell their kidsand is works if they are angry.
Next time you feel stressed or recognise the early signs of it, count to ten. It does not matter if you do it loudly or quietly.
Sometimes this is all you need for simple stress or if you recognise it early.
Many prefer to count down instead and as they count down to zero, it feels as if their stress is slowly going down.
Take a deep breath.
Inhale taking deep long slow breaths. Through your nostrils slowly breathe in and fill your lungs completely. Hold your breath to the count of four. Then slowly exhale through your mouth.
Repeat a few times and as your breathing becomes slower, a calm and relaxed feeing takes over. This, like counting, is an easy way to reduce your stress level.
In addition, as you breathe in and hold your breath, you visualise all the stress in your body slowly moving into your lungs and as you exhale, you are slowly expelling the stress for a calmer and more relaxed you.
You can also use a stress relief squeez ball.
Take a walk.
This is a good way to gain stress relief quickly.
When the task is very stressful, take a break, just walk away from it. I do not mean walk away from it for good. You are removing the problem temporarily. It gives you time to calm down and come to grips with the situation.
You may want to do something else during this break. This takes the stressful problem away from the forefront of your mind and allow your Subconscious Mind to find solution options. The eponymous Morgan Stanley, when stuck with a problem and no solution, would suddenly drop what he was doing and play a game of solitaire. It was’nt long before in his mind, several ideas came foward.
You can go for a walk especially in the park. There is something relaxing when you are near to nature. Your body’s frequency synchronises with the earth’s frequency. Your brainwave drops to this frequency for peace and tranquillity. You feel calm and relaxed. You can get the vacuum cleaner out and clean the house. From your mind you are removing the problem. When you do this, you will notice a different feeling and approach to your task.
In addition exercise relieves stress.
It is recognised that exercise reduces stress.
Talk to someone or write a journal.
This is a good stress buster. Talking to someone is in a way sharing your problem. You may get good tips especially if that someone has experience in your field. A wider approach to your problem develops. It may feel, by sharing your problem, you are no longer isolated. You are not alone.
There is no better stress buster than a simple thought or idea in your mind that will lead to the solution to your problem. You become focussed and energised because you can now see success as the only outcome. Bad stress becomes good stress that produces maximum efficiency.
Writing a journal is also a good stress buster. It anchors what specific things are stressing you. Putting it down on paper transfers it into words that you can choose whether to discard or keep. This is an outlet for stress. If you have no one to talk to or you are alone with a stressful problem, write it down in your stress journal. Ink on paper is the next best thing.
Eliminate Stress With Massagers
Apart from offering an excellent means of relaxation, massages have other health-giving effects also. A massage leads to a better circulation of blood and may help to increase the proportion of red cells in the body. And cheap massagers can help!
Just imagine the pleasure of an enjoyable massage at the end of a hard day’s work!. The most comfortable way of reducing stress at home is thru a personal hand held massager. These massagers are helpful in reducing muscular pain too. It is good to go for regular massaging as it helps to have not only an invigorated body , but an active mind too, which triggers a better thought process. Massagers are known to reduce tension, stress and blood pressure.
Hand held massagers are conducive to better sleep. If you remain uncomfortable in sleep because of tired muscles or mind, you will feel relaxed on using a massager. A calm and relaxed mind promotes better sleep. When I have sufficient sleep on a regular basis, I notice that I am in less pain, my mood is enhanced, and generally, I have a much better day.
It’ll be a great idea to receive or buy a neck massager as a gift at any occasion. This is an easy to use durable device that you can use anytime within the confines of your home or office to get rid of stress, pain or fatigue.
After many long days at the office, working in front of a computer will eventually cause your neck to become quite sore. Generally long hours of working before the tilted computer monitor at your office causes your neck to strain. However, most of the people find it difficult to overcome this problem. Though employers may offer to buy you a suitable chair to play down that pain, it is almost impossible to get rid of it totally. Even good shiatsu massage chair can’t help here.
You have three options for getting rid of that pain in the neck. The first would naturally be to expect your spouse or roommate to massage your neck. While this may work for a time, you are not likely going to get away with this everyday. The other option is to call regularly on a massage therapist. Of course that’s an excellent offer, provided you can bear the financial burden regularly. With a session costing between -80 per hour, it will not take long to spend a great deal of money on a massage using a professional.
Forget About Neck Pain With A Hand Held Massager
Apart from the good experience and feeling they provide, massages help one to derive other healthy benefits too. One big advantage of a massage is that it helps to improve your blood circulation and could lead to an improved ratio of red cells in your body. And massager units can help!
Nothing is more relaxing than a massage at the end of a tiring day at office!. Hand held massagers can eliminate stress easily at the comfort of your home. These massagers are helpful in reducing muscular pain too. It is good to go for regular massaging as it helps to have not only an invigorated body , but an active mind too, which triggers a better thought process. Massagers are known to reduce tension, stress and blood pressure.
Hand Held Massager can promote better sleep. Those with disturbed sleep-patterns would find massagers of great help as they provide relaxation to tired mind and muscles. A calm and relaxed mind promotes better sleep. When I have sufficient sleep on a regular basis, I notice that I am in less pain, my mood is enhanced, and generally, I have a much better day.
It’ll be a great idea to receive or buy a neck massager as a gift at any occasion. It’s a durable and practical device that can be used anytime indoors to relieve stress, fatigue, and pain.
You may not have realized it, but continued prolonged hours of working in front a computer at office causes pain in the neck. Most computer monitors are situated at angles that strain the neck after many hours of use. However, for most people, there are few solutions to this problem. While your employer may purchase a different chair to minimize your neck pain while working, it would be nearly impossible to eliminate it completely. Even massager chair can’t help here.
Three options are open to you for getting rid of your neck pain. You have to request your spouse or roommate to give you a message of the neck. While this may work for a time, you are not likely going to get away with this everyday. The other option is to call regularly on a massage therapist. Now, that’s a hard to beat offer but that may drill too big a hole in your pocket. Hiring the services of a professional therapist at the rate of -80 per hour will upset the budget of anyone.
Understanding a Child’s Anxieties and Fears
As a parent it is important that we understand what potential problems our child has. It goes without saying that many children have various anxieties and worries; I know that I certainly had quite a few as I was growing up. In this article, I write about the types of fears that this might be and about how we can help our children to cope and to get through life in the best possible and stress-free way.
I am by now a child social worker and what I write within this article is just my own personal opinion. I actually work within the stammering therapy industry; I am also involved with a DVD authoring company and with a group of cost reduction consultants.
Many children are able to pick up on what their parents are worrying about. They may hear arguments about money and can then start to worry themselves about the financial situation their family may be in. I am a parent myself and try where possible to only discuss serious issues with my partner when the children are out or are asleep. If I believe that one of my children has overheard a conversation which I would have rather they hadn’t, I then talk to them to attempt to reassure them that everything is OK.
Children may also worry that their parents may break up and that they will end up living apart. They will no doubt hear that this has happened to their friends and may wonder and stress about how their lives would change if this happened to them.
My children have told me that they worry and that they fear that one of their parents may die in the near future. It is quite difficult to explain to them that this is unlikely to happen as it obviously could. I try and laugh it off which may not be the best policy, by stating that I am still very young and that I have no plans to leave this planet in the near future. I explain to them the age that the average male will live to in our country and that normally, I hope, makes them feel better.
Another form of stress and anxiety for many children, is of course, attending school. Will they be able to cope and understand the work? Will they be able to obtain a good examination mark and a good report? Will they be able to make their parents proud of them? I have told my own children not to worry about these issues and to just try their best.
Socialising and meeting friends can also bring its own tensions. I am sure that we all remember our own childhoods and the fact that we regularly break friends but that we normally, eventually, make up again. It can be quite stressful when friends have a disagreement or argument. When this happens to my children, I make a point of saying that it has been the fourth time in a month that you and Amy as an example, have had a falling out. Your sure to make friends again in the near future.
As children get a bit older there is then the challenge of meeting a member of the opposite sex. We all know the problems and strains that this can bring. At this time I think it is just a matter of being there for your children and getting them through these difficult years the best and easiest way possible.
Stress and Hypnotherapy.
Without doubt hypnosis is a very effective stress treatment of stress. When an individual feels he does not have the resources to cope with a task he is confronted with stress develops. Hypnosis works by changing belief, preception and capability so the subject no longer feels he is no longer incapable.
Dr. Lipton said that up to 90% of diseases are caused by stress. Persistent stress starves vital organs of nutrients and oxygen. On the odd occasion this is not a problem but diseases are likely when it becomes persistent.
It is not the situation you confront that is the cause of stress but by the the perception of that situation and whether you feel you have the power in you to deal with it. hypnotherapyis a very effective treatment for stress because it alters your belief, perception and expectation.
Following hypnosis treatment, extremely stressful tasks are transformed into tasks you can easily do because, you have the belief that you have the resources to handle what you are faced with little effort on your part.
During hypnosis, you become deeply relaxed and drop down to brainwave level theta. At theta brainwave level, the barriers that block unwanted information from reaching the Subconscious Mind, ease their tight grip and the hypnotherapist can alter attitude, belief and expectation.
Hypnosis is without doubt a powerful and safe anxiety and stress treatment. Meditation is an effective tool and recommended for stress. Meditation, however, is difficult in a stressed person because it is not easy to relax and carry out the disciplines. It is better to have hypnosis as an immediate treatment and then introduce meditation for the long term and overall life enhancement.
Anyone who has experienced stress will tell you stress is an unpleasant thing. It takes your libido away. It steals enjoyment out of your life. Anger, rage, anxiety and depression are symptoms you can develop. During stress you become less creative and makes unnecessary mistakes.
Worse of all, because it triggers the fight or flight reaction, it shuts off important nutrients to some organs of the body while at the same time stimulating the heart. Researchers believe this is the reason it is the underlying cause for 90% of diseases. In industry there are millions of days a year lost through stress and the cost to healthy services is enormous.
Attitude to stress can be changed by hypnosis and it is not just a treatment for your present stress but it gives you belief and coping skills to control stress in the long term.
During hypnosis, powerful post hypnotic suggestions are given not just on how to cope with your current situation but generally on all aspects of your life. Things a hypnotist will say are, “You are calm and relaxed. You will have no fear when confronting any situation and you are confident, capable and competent.” This type of post hypnotic suggestion enables you to approach your next task with the attitude, “What is fast and best way of doing this?” rather than, “I don’t think I can do this.”
So have hypnotherapy rather than drugs, counselling, CBT or psychotherapy for safe and outstanding results of stres. Remember hypnosis is simply a state of heightened awareness where your right brain becomes very alert. The Subconscious Mind is not analytical or filters like the left brain. While remaining in a deep relaxed state, the Subconscious MInd simply accepts positive suggestions.
Successful Stress Management Techniques
Now I am sure that we would all admit to becoming a little stressed from time to time. It is knowing what to do about it which is the problem for most of us. I am the type of person who used to stress about the smallest of things, this stress affected my sleep, my skin and my work life. I have now learnt and discovered ways to reduce the stress. I am going to write about these ways in this article.
I have had a good chat with myself during recent times, having to admit various weaknesses if you like; one of which was my overall attitude to life. I basically used to think in a very negative way, I did not seem to really enjoy life and I also felt that I was rather an unlucky person. In reality I was actually fine but as you may be able to tell I would feel sorry for myself.
I am now able to think in a far more positive light and this has helped me no end.
Meditation has also helped me to think in a more upbeat manner. The main area where I find meditation helps is to enable my mind to think in a much clearer manner.
Another successful stress reduction strategy is too start to exercise on a regular basis. This is good for many other reasons as well as stress including aiding fitness and weight loss. I have a pet dog now and taking it for around six walks a day helps to to keep fit and to also get out of the house when things start to get a bit stressed.
All of these things have helped me in many ways including to overcome stammering; this was a problem that I had to endure for eighteen years of my life. At the time, before the internet was born, it was quite difficult to receive credible stammering advice, which just added to the overall frustration.
I am now able to live a happy, confident, fluent life and am working as a well known web promotion specialist.
