Keeping those once in a lifetime moments alive

There are always great events in everybody’s lives.  There is of course weddings, graduations, births, and many more.  One of the things you don’t want to do is just let those be memories. With how wonderful cameras are you want to make sure you are able to capture those moments forever. So to make sure you do capture those moments forever with photography here are some tips.

For all these great event, first of all, you don’t need to hire a professional. But of course for those big occasions a professional is always preferred. Of course you would hire a professional on big occasions like weddings.  That is why as a San Diego wedding photographer my service stays busy.Because it is such a special event you need a professional to take those shots and make them perfect.

Absolutely there are those great moments like the birth of a child. Now of course in the hospital room you wouldn’t want a professional photographer to cover the events. But you might want to hire one to take photos of those first few days.  As a San Diego photographer my company gets hired to take newborn photos all the time. Those are some of the most significant events so hiring a professional makes a lot of sense.

Finally there are big occasions like graduations. This is one thing that you yourself can probably do.But it is not hurting to hire a professional either.  As a San Diego event photography service we do graduations all the time. And people hire us most of the time because they need memorable shots. And they want to take pleasure in the occasion instead of having to make sure to take photos.

There are many important moments in life as you can see.  And as you can see using photography is one of the best ways to remember them forever. Because not only will you remember them, but with photos you will also be able to see them. That is something that is worth for the investment.

Ways to finding a talented wedding photographer

Wedding days are some of the most important days for most people’s lives. It is the day where all the expectations and surprises happen. Plus there is added pressure with so many people coming in. You want to make sure everyone has a good time.  But one thing everybody wants for their wedding day is to make sure the moment is captured on film.  People are moving into wanting it on video as well. But nothing can beat the magic of still photography.

Since it is an integral part of a wedding what then would be the keys of having great photos on a wedding day?First thing that you must put in your list of things to do should be to find a talented wedding photographer. You want a photographer who has proof of the kind of work they have done. That is what most people ask me in my San Diego wedding photographer business is examples of my work. And it does make sense. You should not want to hire an inexperienced wedding photographer.

Another thing you want to look for is artistic style.Although it does not seem to be photography is an art form.  So naturally you want a natural artist to be able to take your shots.  I present all my clients with examples of how I have transformed wedding photos into works of arts as a San Diego photographer. People think it’s just point and click but it is not.It is also very important to capture the unsaid emotions of the people during that special day.

Finally you want to know if they are organized.People do not recognize that this is a major event and a very important event as well.A very big event that needs to be coordinated. So with that in mind you should now look for a photogrpaher with an experience in handling very big events. You should look for a wedding photographer with experience in handling huge weddings if you are going to have a huge wedding as well.  In my work as an event photography San Diego my work shows the clients the ability to be organized and the ability to manage situations. This is a very big factor especially when it comes to big events just like a wedding.

Wedding Day Photographer Tips

Most couples making wedding day plans have a lot of things that they do take into consideration. They think about vacation times when trying to coordinate. Or they coordinate the wedding day for the family to be able to make it into town.  Or they plan it based upon maybe available venues, like the church or the restaurant.

But one of the biggest things they fail to plan for on the wedding day is the photographer.  This is no small matter.  And I am not just saying it because I am a wedding photographer

No planning the wedding day with the wedding photographer in mind could mean all the difference in the world. Especially when you think about the fact the photos are going to be the thing that captures that day for a lifetime.

What are the things to think about when making plans with the photographer in mind. The date and time.

Let’s start with the time.  How many couples would want their photographer rushing through the photo shoot?  I am pretty sure most people will not raise their hand to that.

Well without even thinking about your photographer, a lot of times couples will do just that.  They will force the photographer to rush his shots.

How so you ask? A good amount of times, for instance, a couple will have a time let’s say 1-2 pm.  With the reception starting at 2:30.  How many shots do you think the photographer can realistically get in with only half an hour to work with?  Not many.

Even worse, let’s say he does take all the shots?  Do you think they will be of the best quality when the shots are rushed? No way.

So plan the times for the wedding and the reception with enough space in between to take all the photos.

Second thing to consider when planning with the photographer in mind is your photographer’s availability.

Most probably don’t realize this, but most good photographers will be booked months in advance. Let’s say you are dealing with a large photography company, they probably have a few photographers.

Well without considering your photographers availability on the wedding day could turn into a disaster. Because when you reserve that special day, without making sure your photographer is available, come wedding day you might get a shock when you find somebody totally different.

This scenario happens when you are dealing with a big company. You may not even realize that they have a staff of photographers and if the photographer you liked is booked, unless you ask, they might not tell you.  When your wedding day comes, they might just outsource their work or a second rate photographer might show up.

So be ready by not letting this happen.Making plans for your wedding day is special. Make sure that your plan has the wedding photographer in mind as well.

Photography Tips for Wedding Days

Most couples making wedding day plans have a lot of things that they do take into consideration. They coordinate the date according to vacation times from work.

What are some of the factors when you start planning with the photographer in mind.  The time and the date.

First let’s start thinking about the time.  How many people do you think would want their photographer to rush taking the photos? I am pretty confident most couples will not agree to that.

Not even thinking about your photographer, most of the times the bride and groom will do just that. The couple or family basically rush the photographer to try and take all the pictures.

How so you ask? Well let’s say, the couple makes the ceremony between 1-2 pm. With the reception beginning at 2:30. How many shots can a photographer make when he only has a half hour to work with?  Not many.

Worse thing to consider, what if he does manage to take all the photos? Do you think they are going to take good quality shots when they are rushed?  Of course not.

So plan the wedding times and the receptions accordingly making sure there is ample time to take photos.

Second thing to consider when planning with the photographer in mind is your photographer’s availability.

Most probably don’t realize this, but most good photographers will be booked months in advance.  And if you are dealing with let’s say a large photography company, they may have several photographers.

Well making wedding plans without thinking about the availability of the photographer could be a nightmare.  Because if you book that special day and don’t make sure that the actual photographer will be available, when your wedding day comes you might be shocked to find someone totally different.

This happens more than you can imagine when dealing with a big photography company. You may not even realize that they have a staff of photographers and if the photographer you liked is booked, unless you ask, they might not tell you. When the wedding day comes, a second rate photographer or worse yet, they might outsource the work and somebody else will show up.

So be ready by not letting this happen.  Planning your wedding day is wonderful.  Make sure you plan it also with your wedding photographer in mind.

Best Wedding Photography Tip

A lot of brides and grooms get so caught up in their wedding ceremony and reception issues that they actually forget about wedding photography until the last minute. Well this is unfortunate, because the wedding photography is actually going to be one of the most important aspects of any wedding.

Your wedding is the most special day in your life, other than having children, and so of course you are going to want to make sure that everything goes smoothly and also that you are going to have memories afterwards that you can see to treasure the moment and remember it forever.

Having brilliant wedding photography is going to be so worthwhile, because what is the point of going through all the trouble to have your wedding if you are not going to have any pictures or video afterwards to remember it all?

This might turn out to be the best wedding photography tip of your life, to help you choose the right company. Now that you know the great importance of getting pictures taken while at your wedding, make sure that you choose a company that you are going to be able to rely on.

Wedding Photography Tip: Find A Right Professional Photography Company

When you are trying to find a wedding photography company, one of the first things you want to look for is how long they have been in business for, or at least how long the photographers on the team have been in the photography field. You really don’t want to give someone new a chance at your wedding, because they do not have the experience that you can trust in.

Just see to it that you do not get into any contact with any company without checking facts about the company. You want to ensure that they are going to not only offer you the knowledge and experience that you know is important here, but as well that they are going to suit your style and mesh well with what you as a couple are looking for.

Maybe you are a more formal couple who want very elegant photos at your wedding, or perhaps you are having a very casual beach wedding and want fun, creative wedding photography. Either way, make sure that you know what you want and that you find a wedding photographer that is going to help you capture that and the real spirit and essence of your wedding.

When you do an interview of prospective photographers, it will give you a sense of what it will be like when you work with them.

A final thing to think about when you prepare to make that decision is what kind of personality does the photographer have. Are they likely going to try call all the shots and decide on all your poses? Or will they allow the bride and groom to make some decisions? The other thing to think about is do you want to be the one to make the decisions on the photos. The bride and groom will have enough to think about the day of the wedding as it is. Take all of these things into account when considering which photographer to choose. If you do, you will have some wonderful photos to cherish the rest of your lives.  Take it from me, your experienced San Diego photographer.

Wedding Photography tips

Being asked to take photos for a wedding is a huge responsibility. If you’ve been approached to do it as a friend, or maybe asked to do it as a professional, here are 5 great tips to do the job right.

This tips are coming from first hand experience as a San Diego wedding photographer. You could be a seasoned pro, or you could be an amateur, but by following these tips, you will do the job smoothly without second guessing yourself.  You will be fully prepared for whatever may come.

Our first tip is easy and that is to have the couple and maybe their families make a list of photos they want to take. With a day that can be as hectic and chaotic as a wedding day, doing this will help when you are trying to organize all the group and family shots later on in the day.  You will love it and when you can just go down the list and get everything without leaving anything out by accident.

The second tip on our list is to not delete any shots.  In this day and age of digital cameras, most photographers use them.  Great as they are, they also are tempting to delete a shot since it is so easy to do.  Don’t even look at the previews.Remember, what you think is a great shot, could be vastly different than what the couple thinks is a great shot. You know what, they might like all those un “professional” shots you take.

For the the third tip, make sure you get candid shots during and after the wedding.  A good wedding photographer will not just try and get the typical shots, like family group shots, wedding party shots, or your standard bride and groom.  But they will also try and capture the emotions of the day through the shots of all the people that were there.  And that includes some of the things that could go wrong, like a flower girl not making it all the way to the front, or the ring bearer dropping the rings.Every photo matters.

The fourth one to consider, and something that can easily be overlooked is to make sure you have several cameras with several lenses as backup.Do you even want to think of the horror of not being able to take any more shots of the wedding because of a broken camera.  Plan for anything that could go wrong.  Being prepared will help you avoid that uncomfortable moment of not having a working camera to capture the rest of the day.

Finally, you have to be prepared for the lighting and you do that by practicing. There can be a huge difference between the lighting inside the wedding and outside, so make sure to practice for all the different possible conditions. Go see the locations and scout it out for the big day, by finding the best places to shoot as well as studying the lighting needs.

Taking these 5 tips into account will help you immensely.  It will prepare you for whatever might go wrong, it will prepare you for capturing what goes right, and it will prepare you to help contribute to this wonderful day by being the best photographer you can be.  Take it from my years of experience as a San Diego photographer.

7 Principles to Choosing a Good Wedding Photographer

A cheap camera is sufficient to record most of the important events in our lives. But once in a lifetime events such as weddings deserve the extra expense of filming it right. Yet look in the yellow pages and you can see there are plenty of choices available. Follow these seven principles in choosing a photographer and you probably won’t be disappointed with the results.

1. Availability. If you are wealthy, you may be able to hire the best New York photographer to capture your California wedding. However, most people will want to hire someone more locally, someone whose transportation costs will be more reasonable. For example, a couple in Virginia would choose someone specializing in Virginia Beach wedding photography. Also, since photographers are especially busy on Saturdays, will he/she be available on your big day?

2. Skill. Photographing a wedding is much more than aim and click. It involves good equipment and expert skill. Everything is digital these days. What is the pixel range they will use for the pictures? The more pixels, the larger the file size but the better the resolution. Then what is the company’s reputation? What do others say about their skill in taking wedding pictures? Are samples available?

3. Personality. What would it be like to work with them? Are they pushy, trying to get you to choose their most expensive package, or do they present the options and let you decide? Would they tend to take over or fit in? How are they in working with children?

4. Price. Of course, though the average cost of a wedding in the U.S. now is over $20,000, few are willing to put most of that into the pictures. Is the photographer reasonable in comparison with others in the area? Is their price of what you want within the budget of your wedding?

5. Service. How soon will you be able to see the pictures? Some even have a computer slideshow of the wedding pictures during the reception. That is certainly a nice touch. How quickly can prints be made available? Will others of the family and friends have access to them via a website or CD?

6. Options. A wide variety of options should be available. For example, if you so desire, is the photographer available during the rehearsal? Are they willing and available when you want the main photographic event to take place? Are they OK letting relatives take their own pictures while they are setting up shots? What creative suggestions do they offer? Can others print pictures off their website?

7. Integrity. Does the photographer deliver on the promises made? Is the photographer known for being on time and at the right place where they are expected? Are all the parts of the package you choose delivered as promised? Do they have other things planned that day or will they be there as long as you expect them to be?

A wedding is too important of an event to let it pass with only an amateur photographer recording it. As you plan the big day in your lives, consider these principles so that not a single precious moment is forgotten. And if you’re in the area for Virginia Beach photography, look up Expressions Photography. Their friendly and professional expertise will capture all the memories of your special day.
